Meethe Chawal | Saffron rice
Vasant Panchami festival is celebrated every year on the fifth day of
the bright half of the Indian month of Magh.
(spring season, January to February). Vansat panchami is more commonly
associated with Saraswati puja in eastern parts of in India. In Panjab, Basant
is celebrated as Basant festival of Kite. Saraswati Maa is the
goddess of learning, wisdom, knowledge, fine arts.This day is treated by celebrants
as Saraswati's birthday. The color yellow plays an important role in Vasant
Panchami as it is related to the bloom of mustard flowers during this period. Celebrants
usually wear yellow garments and make yellow sweet or saffron rice(Mithe Chawal)
Ingredient:
1 cup rice
½ cup sugar
2 cup water
1 tbsp ghee
Pinch saffron stands
¼ cup raisin
¼ chopped almonds and cashew
1 tbsp milk
Yellow food color
Method:
1.Soak the rice for 20mins.
2.In small bowl add saffron and milk
and keep aside.
3.Heat deep pan and add 1 ½ cup
water and color.
4.When water becomes boil add rice .
5.Lower the heat and cover with lid
6.Cook the rice
7.In another pan add 1tbsp ghee and
Fry almond and cashew till lightly brown.
8.Remove the nuts and keep aside and
add same ghee in the rice.
9.In same pan ,Add sugar and ½ cup
water and dissolved the sugar
10.At this time rice cooked 85%, add
this sugar syrup and raisin in rice and cover with lid.
11.Cook the rice another 3 mins low
flam. And than turn off the flam.
12.Serve hot and garnish with nuts.

pour the sugar syrup in rice.

Add raisin in rice.
