Butter Naan
Naan is the flat bread . Naan is
similar to the pita bread. A typical naan include white flour, salt ,yeast and
curd to make dough. Once dough risen, make small balls of dough and flatten
them and cook on tandoor or tava and brushed with ghee or butter . There are
many varieties of naan as butter naan ,paneer stuffed naan, potato stuffed naan
, garlic naan, peshawari naan, Kashmiri naan, afghani naan and cheese naan.
In Pakistani cuisine , naan s are graced with fragrant essences such as rose /
khus- khus.
I have prepared
Butter Naan as the 1st recipe of 3rd week of Blogging Marathon by Srivalli for the 38th
edition with the theme ‘Different types of naans’
Ingredient:
1 ¾ cup maida
1 tsp yeast
¼ cup water
¼ cup curd
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp oil
1 tsp salt
¼ cup butter
2 tsp onion seeds / kalonji
Method:
1.
Mixed yeast, powder sugar and warm water and keep it aside for 5 minutes to
proof.
2. Mix maida, curd, salt and oil.
3. Add proofed yeast to dry ingredient and mix
well to form a soft dough.
4. Oil a bowl and place the dough into it.
5. Cover the bowl with wrap or cloth and set
it aside for 1 hour or until double.
6. Dough size will double after 1 hour.
7. Knead it and make
8.Divide the dough into small portion about a
size of large lemon
9.Roll each portion in a small circle.
10.Put 1 tsp butter in the center of the
rolled dough.
11.Take it in your palm and bring
all the edges together as shown in pic.
12.Apply some flour on this stuffed
dough.
13.Gently roll the stuffed dough
with rolling pin in oval shape and sprinkle some onion seeds.
14.heat the flat pan or tava.
15.Put the rolled naan on hot pan.
16.Cook naan on both side for 30
sec.each side.
17.light another gas burner and
transfer the half cooked naan to direct gas flame and cook naan until brown
spots appear on both side of naan.
18.Transfer the cooked naan on the
plate and spread the butter over hot naan
Serve this butter naan with dal
makhani / butter paneer/ shahi paneer.

roll and sprinkle some onion seeds.
place on the tava.
turn and cook to another side.
cook on direct flame .
