Peanut chutney

Peanut chutney recipe/South chutney with dosa or idli

½ cup peanut
1 onion chopped
1 green chilli
1-2 dry red chilli
2-3 tamrind paste
Salt to taste
To temper:
½ tsp mustard
½ tsp split urad dal ( dhuli urad dal)
Few curry leaves
2 tsp oil

1. Dry roast peanut and they turn slightly browned . allow to cool ,remove skin and set aside.

2. heat oil in a pan roast red chilli for 1 mins . remove it in plate .
3. Add chopped onion in the oil sauté for 2 mins.
4. Now add peanut, chilli, onion, tamrind paste , salt and 2 tbsp water and grind to a fine paste.
5. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
6. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan for temper.
7. Once oil hot , Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and urad dal .
8. pour over chutney and mix well.
Peanut chutney is ready ,Serve with idli or dosa.

Another variation is you can add  ½  cup fresh coconut in place of onion.
